The Fayette County Death Index is drawn from the numerous obituary clippings that have been donated to the Pennsylvania Room over the years, as well as efforts by Library staff to record obituary information from recent newspapers. It is not drawn from the large obituary index available on-site in the Pennsylvania Room.
The newspapers noted in the table include the Genius of Liberty (“GL”), Morning Herald (“MH”), Evening Standard (“ES”), and Herald Standard (“HS”). A few entries cite the Keystone Courier (“KC”). Where the source of the information was unclear, a death date is usually provided, but no newspaper is cited. In this case, it is still advisable to search for the individual’s obituary in the local newspapers.
For ease of navigation, some information was excluded from this online table, including additional publication dates for obituaries. If you are interested in this information, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
