HERITAGE QUEST ~ Genealogical & Historical Database

This online database is a collection of unique material for both genealogical and historical researchers, with coverage dating back to the late 1700s. Researchers can find their ancestors, trace their paths across America, and learn what life was like in the areas where they settled.

With Heritage Quest you can
  • Search the Census to find ancestors in the complete set of U.S. Federal Census images from 1790-1930, including name indexes for many years.
  • Search Books to find information on people and places described in over 22,000 family and local histories.
  • Search PERSI to find information about people and places from the index of over 2.1 million genealogy and local history articles.
  • Search selected Revolutionary War records from the Revolutionary War Era Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Application Files.
  • Search Freedman's Bank (1865-1874) for individuals. The bank was founded to serve African Americans.
  • Search U.S. Serial Set, specifically the Memorials, Petitions and Private Relief Actions of the U.S. Congress in the LexisNexis U.S. Serial Set.

OVERDRIVE ~ Download Audio Books, Music & Videos

Uniontown Public Library members can now download best selling audio books, music and videos 24/7 to a PC and PDA at home, in the office or from anywhere in the world. Now our library never closes! All you need is a valid Uniontown Public Library card.

What's available?

  • An eBook is the digital, onscreen version of a published physical book. The format of the title is text-based, and some eBooks are interactive, with sound and hyperlinks. eBooks from OverDrive can be transferred to a variety of portable devices, such as PDAs, Pocket PCs, and Smartphones (depending on publisher permissions and device specifications).
  • An OverDrive Audiobook is the digital version of a book on tape or book on CD. Patrons may listen to a spoken word audiobooks on their computers or transfer to a variety of portable devices, including the iPod (coming soon). Many audiobooks can also be burned to CD. OverDrive Audiobooks are specifically engineered to provide the best audiobook listening experience.
  • OverDrive Download Video is video that has been optimized for download and can be watched on a computer or transferred to a compatible mobile device.
  • OverDrive Music titles usually consist of an entire album, and many music titles include a supplementary PDF with liner notes or the libretto.

The first time that you check out materials, you will be provided with instructions to download the software that you need. For your convenience, the Library Center has compiled a list of compatible devices.
